If your life was condensed into a 2 hour movie do you think it would get a thumbs up or a thumbs down?

I've had a pretty good time so, I'm going big thumbs up from Roeper and a marginal thumbs up from Ebert.

I'm pretty sure I'd get a split decision from Ebert & Roeper.

"Not a lot of direction in this movie but it makes up for it in shocking events and instances where you just can't believe what happened..."

Do we have to go with the Ebert system of thumbs? I'd rather go with the Hustler rating system.

My life would be "fully erect".

Yeah I can see the reviews on that

"The drunken decisions made in the first part of this movie reminded me of BarFly without the talent or direction, but with more fighting for no apparent reason. After the main character hits middle age it become fairly repetitive as most of the action takes place in an office where nothing seems to happen.

Thats right Roger, even the behind closed door stuff seems pretty standard, and the lack of hot chicks with big bazoomba's is a direct contrast to the first 15 minutes of this film.

I did like the one scene where the main character see's a bullet hit a vehicle behind him missing him by less than a foot, but they never really followed up with a vengence angle where the main character tries to hunt down his assailant. However the fact that he used peanut butter for currency to purchase beer and cigarettes was a rare moment of comediatic genius"

Like the second half of this movie I'd give it an average score of 5"

hmmmmm I don't know what my life would be....

I guess it depends on what spin you put on it. The awesome, party, having a good time, and just happy go lucky roll with the punches movie, it'd probably get shelled by the critics as while the main character has fun, what does the movie goer get out of it but "that guy had a really fun time"?

In the same breath, if you were to put a dramatic spin on things, focus on relationships, mistakes made, and now it effected the main charater in making future/career/financial decisions, it would probably get two thumbs up and cinimatic acclaim

It all depends on how its done. I mean, the life of Harvey Peckar (American Splendor) was great!
