Hey all Haligonians, and temporary Haligonians,

I Jon "Maritime Q-Scout" Patterson am moving back from Halifax to my hometown of Sydney. Tomorrow we're throwing a shindig for my goodbyes.

While I have not had the pleasure of meeting any posters here in person, I would love the opportunity to meet you (even if I'm too drunk to remember)

So

If you're in the fine city of Halifax, I'll be at Peddler's on Granville St at 10:00.

For those that don't have Facebook, tall, skinny guy, with glasses and curly hair.

Would love to meet yas all.

And of course have a drink or two (hundred)

Hey man,

Was in Halifax till a few months ago, live in Australia now. However, I can tell you if you go to the Oasis bar on Spring Garden Road (across from Peel Pub) you can often find a few flames fans, (wearing jerseys even) and a great basket of wings.

There's a lot of students in town from Calgary who represent the team out east!

if there was a Flames game tonight I'd have suggested the Oasis for that reason.

The wings there are good, I'm a fan of the place. It's like a legion but underground. And the karaoke, ohhhh karaoke with the guy that plays guitar along with the performers.

Since there's no game tonight, we must celebrate last night's game

Ok question: where is a half-decent DEAL on wings?

Wings out here seem to cost anywhere from 15/20 cents to 30/35 cents. I remember getting wings in Calgary for 10 - 15 cents at most. What am I missing? Or where am I missing?

Ale House on Wednesdays has a pitcher of beer and 10 wings for $8.95, so basically the wings are free. Possibly the best deal in town. If I'm not mistaken they run that special every day during the summer.

I don't have anything lined up at the moment, the decision was made first and foremost for family reasons (grandmother's starting to not do so well, it's taking a tool on my mother, not getting to see relatives when they visit etc). Being from a place with very strong family ties, and being very close to my family myself, it's the right decision for me. I'll miss Halifax but it's not "home" if you know what I mean.

So fingers crossed, I've got a good education and some real good experiance behind me. Hell I'm not even settled in back home yet and I'm working on the host committee of the 2007 CIS Women's Soccer Championships, so I'll land on my feet in terms of work relations.

I'm not sure if I can make it or not. It's my Dad's birthday and were taking him out for dinner, reservations at 8:00. It will depend on what happens after, not sure if I can get out.

Before you say "bring him" he doesn't drink anymore....

If I don't make it have a great time, my wife says "good luck" (they worked in the same office).
