dont' have a link or anything but it was interesting. They talked about the media, and how Fox has balanced things out somewhat (Lanny, clearly you'll disagree, but lets leave it for now). My real point was the internet, the next topic, and how people tended to frequent sites and forums that had similar minded occupants, looking for reinforcement and not a challenge to their belief system.

Had me thinking how good the off topic forum here has been in helping many of us shape our views. We have polar opposite angles on many a topic, but I have to admit that I've seen some of the wisdom of the other side through debates with many of you, something that I think is healthy for all of us.

Nice to see a hockey site provide such a great place to flesh out current events.

I think that's interesting, the part about people visinting forums with like minded individuals. Especially considering how tow sided EVERYTHING on teh off topic board has been lately. I guess technically we're here because we all like the Flames (Except MMM and TPA_PTC and a few oiler fans), but it is pretty cool that there is such fevered debate a lot of the time.

This forum is educational. I get alot of news from this site. Often when some news blurb comes up in a conversation I will know about it and this site is usually the reason.

Reading the different opinions and responses also takes the passivity out of the news somewhat, it forces you to analyze it and see the different viewpoints rather than just take it at face value.

I went to the Bill Maher message boards and whoa! First of all talk about just slinging mud. F this and F that. Here people left and right have both been accused of being labelled harshly, try going there you'll think you were treated with kid gloves. I can't imagine there's any debate there actually going on. Then there was the extremes the religious right was crazy! Some funny sigs and avatars though.

Don't worry Bingo, I won't hammer FoxNews right now. I'll leave that for acter the election so people can focus on it. There's a lot of information for people to digest on the subject and I think it only fair that we focus on the election and get that one out of the way before taking on the sacred cow of the media and its bias (the original urban legend).

yes. it was fairly entertaining. Makes out O'Reilly to be a crazy bas**rd( which i guess he is)

I can't believe more people watch FoxNews than CNN in the states. They deserve Bush to be president

I have seen Outfoxed, have watched FoxNews quite a bit, and even though it is produced in conjunction with a left leaning organization, it is very accurate.

The only thing I will say about the "media bias" right now is that the conservatives have done an extremely effective job running around waiving their arms and deflecting criticism back onto the liberals. The concept of "conservative bias" does not exist because the liberals are too damn stupid to promote it themselves. They would rather play by the rules that they see as fair while the conservatives have a completely different playbook and don't even follow it. A quote that fits the conservative bias that is openly ignored is this. "The devil's greatest feat is convincing man that he really doesn't exist." The bias is there, but no one bothers to acknowledge it. We will take up this discussion next week after the election.

Oh, and I completely agree with Bingo. The Off Topic Board has become a great source to get educated on may issues. I must say that if I were not pushed by each of you individuals that I would not be as intune with certain subject matter than I am. You guys push me to look at things differently, so it's your freaking fault that I'm the guy that gets labelled a conspiracy theorist by the likes of Cow and Tranny.

Comments like that kill me.

A guy who hates Fox, watches a documentary hammering Fox and finds it very accurate.

Stop the presses!

I think most admit Fox leans right, and I'm sure the documentary has facts to support just that. I'm also sure they went out of their way to not show any footage or quotes from the network that shows the opposite, something one can find on almost any day cruising the Fox News website.

I read Golberg's book that talks about the Liberal bias in the elite media. He has facts and is quite accurate too, but just like the Fox documentary, he didn't post facts to show that they can also be fair or lean right either. Doesn't sell books.

So I'm glad you found the Fox documentary accurate, but you'll forgive me if I ingest you're opinion with a heaping spoonful of salt.
