Swampy Times

Meadowlands-In an effort to get the Albany River Rats back on track, Devils GM Mike Walsh made a couple of deals for the club in the past 12 hours. Walsh acquired d-man Paul Manning from the Caps farm system in exchange for River Rat forward Jeff Smith, and this morning Walsh sent the last pick in 03 entry draft Arseny Bondarev, and career minor leaguer Steve Kariya to the Sharks for rugged winger Nathan Perrott.

"Although these are not the blockbuster deals are fans have become use to...these deals help us balance out the River Rats. Manning should help eliminate some of the defensive problems we are having down there, and Perrott adds some more muscle to go along with Hordichuk and Langdon. The deals help us because we now have 8 wingers...4 on each side, plus we now have a good 22 man unit" Walsh said.
