I guess WEM didnt learn their lesson after all their dolphins started dying one after another from "mysterious causes". Now they are bringing in sea lions...

Ugh.

but the good news is:
Quote:

" Mall officials have said they'd like to have a zoo in the shopping-entertainment complex by early 2005. Don Ghermezian, president of Triple Five Corp., said he plans to acquire lion cubs, bear cubs, zebras, small elephants and sea lions for a mall display."

I remember hearing officials saying that 'these lions were born and bred in captivity, so it's not that bad'. Looks like this, and their strategy to get more animals, is a way to make the impossible possible - making WEM more tacky

Me thinks those things will be out of the mall within a year. And not because people will realize that Edmontonians shouldn't get their culture from a mall but because Sea Lions are loud! Those things are going to bark and bark and bark. Store owners near the "exhibit" are going to lose it within a couple of months.

Ahh yes, nothing like an indoor zoo to clear the sinuses.

"Hey Gerry, your new jacket smells like bear sh*t".

"Yeah, the bear cage is next door to the Boutique of Leathers".

Sounded like they "snuck" them in too...gee, wonder why.

If there is a fascination to watch animals flail around in water, turn around and walk 50 ft to the Waterpark viewing area.

I don't know if they snuck them in at all. I watched a Global News report on them moving the Sea Lions into WEM. They couldn't have been that secretive if they let a camera crew follow them around.

It is alot easier to crate a bunch of live animals around in the morning with no one around then in hte middle of the day with a bunch of Edmontonions pee'ing on themselves.
