Only Vegas could turn the demolition of a building into a money making spectacle.

Definitely cool seeing the countdown happen with those fireworks, though. Very creative.

RIP Stardust...

That was actually very cool. Anyone know what they're building in it's place?

Didn't they do that with the Dunes hotel as well?

They blew up one of the old hotels (could have been the Dunes) for a movie a bunch of years ago.

Holy poop. 4 Billion is almost 14 times what the Penguins new arena will cost! That's crazy!

I wathched a few of the 2004 Stanley Cup Finals games there, a bunch of Calgarians took over one of the bars. The people in the casino thought we were insane I'm sure, 40 Canadians standing and singing the national anthem as loud as we could. Fond memories of that old dump. RIP, Stardust.

Mrs. Cowperson and I were walking by the Stardust last week and I remember thinking: "Wow, they've gutted the place. Wouldn't it be great if they blew it up!!"

And they did. Had no idea it was that imminent.

If any of you have seen Martin Scorsese's movie, Casino. It is based on the book, Casino, by Nicholas Pileggi. In the movie, the casino is called the Tanjers. But in the book, which is based on a true story. The Casino is the Stardust.

Interesting trivia, actually didn't know that. I love that movie, one of my favorites in my collection.
