"In Canada one in three or one in four children being born is a Muslim. What does that do to the demographic shift of a Muslim population in 20 years' time?"
It tells me two things:
1) His data is obviously skewed, that number is far too high to be truthful - religion is declining in Canada, but there are more Christians, Sikhs, Jews, and others in Canada than Muslims by a long shot. That number has to be too high.
2) Even if that WAS the truth, that only leaves 25%-33% of the Canadian population Muslim; hardly the religious victory these clerics can claim - that's not an Islamic country, that's just a stronger Muslim minority than before!

The reason for not so much alarm as there is awareness is the same reason Harper paid for the Lebanese to come back to Canada. Minority groups have a tendancy to group together (Montreal, TO and its burbs etc).
Normally 25-33% of the population wouldnt be an issue because they are too spread out to matter, the reason it does matter is becuase they can dominate ridings because of the close association, same thing applies with all minority groups in Canada and the US. The difference in the US is their society forces Americana on immigrants so the effect is less where as in Canada its as if they are still living in their homeland just with a bunch more white people around and you dont need to boil water.

Children born to Muslim parents in Canada will be just like the rest of us. They'll get a modern Canadian education and be exposed to all sorts of things and they'll give up the old superstitions soon enough.

I think the author is assuming that the children will be religious Muslims themselves. And to assume that in a country like Canada is a stretch. By second or third generation most people will consider themselves true Canadians and won't favour an over throw of the government in the name of Muslim.

I hope that is the case, but if they feel persecuted because of their Muslim heritage they may tend to stay closer to other Muslims, and in that case they would presumably adhere to the Muslim faith much longer.
And that type of isolation probably happens a lot more than we would hear or like to believe.

Our society corrupts all religions.
I wouldn't worry too much.

Exactly... how many 2nd generation muslims do you know that watch the shows we watch, drink the beer we drink etc..
Interesting article, but you can see the propaganda oozing out all over the place.

Well people adhering to their faith of course is fine. But your right in times of persecution people tend to return to their "roots" and some return to them with a side of fundamental extremism, which is apparently happening with this guy in Australia. And who would have thought the environment would have triggered his outrage, huh. But after reading the article a second time, clearly this cleric is nucking futs.
