That's awesome..I'm not surprised at all. I have dual citizenship, and whenever I tell people anywhere in the Canadian, I get very positive feedback, such as "wow, that's awesome", or "Canada's a great country!". When I tell people I'm American, I don't get much feedback at all. I don't think the US is THAT place to live......I live here, and I think there are so many opportunities that most other countries don't have. I guess I'm proud to be American (I know, the wrong thing to say on this board, prolly). But Im also proud to be born and raised in Canada.

Boy I hope its Canadian beer you've been into and not American (you heard about American beer and a canoe? )
Anyways, it is interesting that we can first not because we have a better reputation than Japan or the EU, but that we have less of a bad reputation than those places...we are just the quiet little country that doesn't bother anyone...

kind of silly to say that Canada has the best reputation worldwide when the poll was only asking about 12 countries. countries like Sweden and Finland always seem to rank right up with Canada on these things so i was surprised not to see them listed

I agree and after reading the article that's the first thing I thought of. Also, I'm sure Canada has a great image because people don't know much about it. That's my opinion anyway.

The only explanation I can offer up would be that maybe those countries aren't as big players as Canada? (Well that didn't sound right saying) But perhaps because Canada is in Afghanistan is why they are considered on this poll? Maybe Finland and Sweden aren't considered global impacts in the scope of this poll. Now maybe I am giving Canada too much credit and selling Scandinavia short. But most of what I know about Sweden has been learned from IKEA. So most of that knowledge consists of furniture and meatballs.

Bingo... its not that everyone loves us, its that no one has a reason to hate us. Half the people surveyed were probably like, Canada? where is that? sure, I don't hate it.
Really, everyone hates the US and Israel for various reasons, France and Britain, China and Japan, Germany and France, EU and Europeans... the only rivals we have are the Americans, and they couldn't be bothered to hate Canada, not with the vitriol that some Canadians spit at Americans at least.
