General Admission Seating at the Dome
My wife just called and she got some Flames tickets for tommorow night from someone, and she says they are general admission. I have not sat in nosebleeds since I was about 10 years old and have a couple questions to those who attend games on a semi regular basis.
How do you get up there? Gotta go through the towers outside, or is there another way? Does it really matter how high up you sit? and how early do you need to arrive to get the lower seats?

You can get in from the concourse, but you have to walk up through the 200's. Not a big deal, unless it's during the play. Sorry, I can't remember what sections you go up.
As far as location goes, the lower the better. If you aren't sitting low, you won't see the scoreboard. I dont' know how early to get there, cause my seats are in the 200's, but my brother says if you're there about 45 min early for a tuesday game you're ok.

I sat in the upper loges for the first time Saturday. What a zoo up there! Not a family friendly zone. You can get there from the concourse, but it is a lot of stairs. Could have used a sherpa.
Instead of ushers, there are only security people. The beer lines are long, so buy two when you get there. The washrooms are easier to get into than downstairs.

Take the elevator on the West side of the building, North of the +15ish walkway from the C-Train station.
Also, order your beer from the Olympic Lounge, never usually a line-up there. Plus in the lounge they usually have five bartenders and two servers to get drinks while in the concessions in the 300's they only have two people pouring draft.
As for seating, I have no idea what time you should show up at because it's packed when I get there about 15 minutes to game time.

The sport check zone (the general admission section) is only on the west side (the side with the +15/c-train entrance). You can get in two ways.
Go in the Saddledome and either walk up the stairs in one the corner sections, either 201/202 or 222/223.
Or go into the big red tower (on the west side, near the big yellow tower) outside, and walk all the way up.
The first three rows (separate from the rows 4-20ish) are not general admission. You don't want to sit there and be kicked out by the ticket holder ten minutes before the game starts and end up sitting way at the top.
When I go there I usually try to get there around an hour to an hour and a half before puck drop. If you get there that early you will get your choice of seats. I wouldn't show up any later than 20 minutes before game time otherwise you'll have a pretty weak seat.

if you want good seats, you have to show up at least an hour early. and make sure you are on the right side of the building before hiking up, as the Ultimate Fan Zone on the other side isn't GA anymore (you can tell the Sportchek zone from all the banners they have hung up there). overall it's a very fun experience, the loudest fans are always in the 300's and as long as it's not a Vancouver or Edmonton game there should be no worries about fights or anything

Definitely a different beast. I don't mind it but I feel sorry for the guys who go there with their kids.

On a related note does anyone know what the deal is with those 'standing room only' tix that sometimes show up on TM? Is that meant to be taken literally? Or do they give you folding chairs or a beach towel or what?

They give you a square with a number on it to stand in and that's it.

Those spots are right behind the wheelchair folks at the top of Sec 104.
Pretty good view, I bought a few of those in Dec.

Only the sportcheck zone is rush seating the ultimate fan zone you have set seats
But it is a good place up there, its pretty much the only place I sit, but god lord do they need ushers up there, people walk all over all the time, people just can’t grasp the idea of waiting until the whistle

Well that's not too bad... don't you get tired standing in one spot for 2.5 hrs?

I went with my 11 year old nephew, 2nd NHL game ever. An older couple in front of us insisted that he grab one of their seats, he sat with the woman with his candy, coke, huge popcorn and a smile on his face. The woman's husband and I stood behind them, didn't get tired at all. After the game my nephew looks at the woman and says, "Thanks for letting me sit with you!". Made his day.
The only bad thing is the concourse right behind you, alot of yappy people grabbing beers and not even watching the game.

Just a reminder when sitting in the Sport Chek Zone, please sit back in your seat so as not to make everyone behind you sit forward to see the ice......the view can be limited enough without someone's head blocking an entire zone of the ice.

Just got some tickets from ebay tonight. Section 316 row 18. Is this the sportchex zone? And what row do these sections start at? Row 18 isn't high up is it?

You are on the other side of the Dome, flamesrule14. And row 18 is, well, the 18th row. Watch your head on the ceiling on your way in.

Unless you are in row 4-8 I think it's better to be in the top GA row. Is it worth showing up that early just to get a slightly better view? The top row also has a spot behind you to put your drink and coat. Shorter rows so less people walking infront of you, and if you like you can lean forward and or stand up to stretch your legs at any time during the game...
