Default Refreshing suggestion from some NFL players

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2776549

3 strikes and you're out of the league?

Bye, bye Chris Henry. Not sure if this could be implemented legally, but I hope so. Refreshing that NFL players are bringing this issue to the forefront and suggesting some solutions.

Its about time the league did something to address the growing problem of off field incidents. The funny thing is that the NFL was so dead set against the ESPN show "Playmakers", because it portrayed the league in a negative way. Yet the real NFL makes Playmakers look like Seasome Street.

I wonder what kind of incidents will count towards the 3 strikes? Will DUI count? Will illegal possession of a fire arm count? Will a domestic dispute count? Or do you actually have to be involved in a serious crime? If things like a DUI count, Jared Allen has one more strike.

It should be legal. NFL is privately owned and can set whatever rules they want so long as they don't break the law ... and all they are doing is ensuring that people don't break the law.

and the NFL can always argue that they are not restricting football players from practising their trade because they can always go to the CFL. I've always thought that the NFL has looked to prop up the CFL simply for anti-trust reasons.

The real question is why should the NFL be policing steroids at all. They are all grown men (level of maturity in question) who should be able to be trusted to make their own decisions regarding their body.

Its a legal matter that should be handled by the appropriate authorities - not by the NFL.

This is more about legal troubles than drug policy.

Chris Henry went to jail more times last year than he did the end zone, for instance. Other NFL players are getting tired of it. (I don't know if he really went to jail more times than TD's scored, but it is close enough to make the point!)

Sorry about that, I assumed this thread was about steroids (which I support in training) and not outside NFL jurisdiction law matters.

3 Strikes and you are gone is more likely in the NFLPA than almost every other union.

I still dont think it would fly legally but good on them for at least making a try.
