Default Crazy: Anaconda's for sale in Canada: $250.00

Now this blows me away.

http://www.reptilescanada.com/classi...t=14944&cat=24

While screwing around on the internet I found this ad. For those who aren't 100% sure, I checked and yes, the Green Anaconda are the great big ones - the heaviest snakes on the planet.

And just think, for less than some of you have paid for skates or basketball shoes, you can own it. Just think, in 15 years or so when it starts to weigh 3 or 400 lbs and is 20 feet long, you too can enjoy feeding it.

I've got nothing against those people who get exotic pets - in fact I kind of like seeing them now and again. Further, Burmese pythons are real neat when you see them at some sort of display or exhibition as part of an education forum. The thing is that those giant snakes are usually cared for by someone who knows their arse from a hole in the ground. I would have thought that price would have been some sort of deterrant on these, but wow, I guess not.

A giant anaconda, for sale in Canada, for cheap. Now I've seen everything.

oh, and for what it's worth, there are a tonne of animals on that site that are illegal in Alberta.

Strange, once it grows full size you wouldn't even be able to control it.

I want a pet monkey...or one of those animals in that family. That would be the greatest.

once it gets to full size it will literally need a swimming pool to live in as they are aquatic.

Have fun with that one.

Btw, killer_carlson:

Where did you go to find out if a specific animal is illegal in Alberta/Canada? If you could hook me up with a link i'd appreciate it

well you'd probably have to check at least two places, provincially as well as any municipal restrictions.

Provincial legislation can be found at the Governement of Alberta's Queen's Printer website, www.qp.gov.ab.ca and you can search the catalogue for any statute or regulation.

Specifically as it relates to animals, I think you'd want to check out the Wildlife Act (which also governs hunting in the province). Usually lists or rosters or fees or anything like that are spelled out in the accompanying Regulations.

Then I'd call up the city and ask them what sorts of restrictions they have. They may have an exotic pet license you might have to buy, or a large animal pet license as well (which would cover large dogs as well). If you're asking about something really crazy, call from a buddy's house and say that you already own it and wait for animal control to come calling in a week or two.

GOD. Spidars, Mice and Snakes. If I ever came across one of those in the woods, I would definitely pass out. How can people get attached to such vicious and ugly things. Yikes, I'm a big *****.
