Technical help needed. Audio cut out

Okay, yesterday my audio cut out on my laptop. Any programs like windows Media player etc or even video on the net doesn't have any audio, yet when I have the speakers turned up sound effects like clicking buttons on a screen does make a sound.

what's causing it? (I did a system restore and it didn't help)

It was the new Windows media player, it deleted my audio player. Makes sense doesn't it.

Anyway, problem solved. Mods could you delete this.
