Default Timestamps

How are the timestamps set?

I'm noticing that the board seems to be floating further into the future.
My PC time (which is re-synced every time I reboot or log onto my work domain) now seems to be 7 minutes behind some post timestamps. My system will say it is 11:00 and the most recent post will say 11:07

Is the server running ntp?

I thought my computer clock was running slow because I have been noticing the same thing. Nice to know it isnt my machine.

My computer clock is now 17 minutes behind CP time...and in Decemeber I cleary remember it being in the 7-8 minute range.

I will ask this because I just don't know...

I don't mean this in the way it sounds, but...does this matter? I.e. does it have technical connections/implications/etc...or just one of those things that people like to see as accurate?

Again, I'm just curious...I've seen this general quesiton posed once or twice before, so I am just wondering the reasoning behind it...

Posts will still appear in the right order and stuff, but it's still nice to have it close to reality. If it drifts now it'll keep doing it, until eventually all posts appear half an hour in the future.. big problem no, but can be confusing.

Ahh, ok, thanks Photon! I am one of those people that will, at times, purposely hang things on a slant etc....so these types of things don't bother me.

Cheers.

I don't notice the time differential when I am logged on, but when I am merely lurking I notice that the time is out by an hour or two.
