Favourite Books as a Kid
Someone got me thinking about the legend of King Arthur today and I suddenly remembered one of my favourite series of books when I was a kid.
The Dark Is Rising series.. turns out they're making a movie out of it too.
What were your favourite books when you were a kid?

I remeber reading a lot from the Goosebumps series.

I still refer to kids as Little Chidlers after Roald Dahl's BFG.

Roald Dahl... Wow I had almost forgotten that name. Witches was also a good book by him. A few books come to mind, whose titles I can't remember, which is unfortunate. I'm gonna have to look into this now lol. But I do remember:
- Charlotte's Web
- Chicken Little
- Big Dog, Little Dog
And the best book ever, my Gobots book, which features a scientist who uses the exclamation "Poppycock!" LOL

When I was in elementary school I remember reading lots of Thornton W Burgess books ... Reddy Fox, Jerry Muskrat, Sammy Jay and all those. I remember reading a bunch of The Adventures of Tintin books too, but they were more like hard cover comic books. Oh ya, and Zeuss too ... can't forget them. Heck, I was still reading them in high school, but I think that had to do with all the pot I smoked in high school.
Early teens ... the Tolkien stuff, plus tons of war novels.

"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" by Roald Dahl
The Bruno and Boots series by Gordon Korman
Choose Your Own Adventure books
"The Big M"...don't know who it's by, but it's about mice living in the Maple Leaf Gardens and playing hockey against other mice.
Then there's one that's on the tip of my tongue...a series about a little mouse in a hotel/house...I remember it riding in a toy car.
Edit: "The Mouse and the Motorcycle" by Beverly Cleary. I liked a lot of her books.

I'm going to take this even further back. Might help some of the fathers here.
I used to love this book in the early elementary years..

Featuring the town of Chewandswallow... where it's rains food. Some fantastic illustration in it.
Going back even further, I saw a commercial the other day with Miffy the Rabbit. Miffy Rules when you're ages 3-5.

I was pretty addicted to the Henry Huggins, Ramona Quimby, and The Mouse & the Motorcycle series. All Beverly Cleary books.
