Devils Acquire Lukas Krajicek
The New Jersey Devils are pleased to announce the acquisition of 22-year-old defenseman Lukas Krajicek from the San Jose Sharks.
Leaving the Devils is centre Alexander Svitov, 24 years of age, and the Columbus Blue Jacket's first round pick in this year's draft (previously acquired). In anddition to Krajicek, the Devils also received the LA Kings' first round selection in this year's draft.
With the emergence of 20-year-olds Paul Stastny and Dan Fritsche, along with the solid play of Vern Fiddler in third line duty, the Devils found themselves with a dearth of young talent at center and had been looking for a move to bring a young defender to the team for some time.
In addition, the departure of Svitov leaves the Devils with one fewer restricted free agent to have to concern themselves with this off-season.
