Default ATB Account: $100 In Your Pocket

Hey guys,

I work at the new ATB Branch at Beacon Hill (Sarcee North and Country Hills Blvd. Right but the new NW Costco).

Anyways... I'm not here to tell you why or why you shouldn't switch banks. But I thought I'd let you guys know that we have a promotion at our branch only that if you set up a new account with ATB, and set up 1 automatic direct deposit (pay cheque) and 2 automatic direct debits (mortage, insurance, rrsp contribution, etc) a month we'll give you $100. That's it... no strings. The money shows up once those automatic debits and withdrawls are done.

You have to set up the account by Feb 15th to take advantage of this. Just want to get some money into the pockets of the CP faithful.

EDIT: If you're interested, PM me, and I'll get you set up to meet with a personal banker.

How much do they charge for their "unlimited" account? (or whatever it's called?)

How much do I have to pay to use an ATM outside of Alberta?

Is there a probationary period? Like having to keep the account open for 3 months in order to get the $100?

Pretty sure there's gonna be something in place so that we're not just handing out $100 bills to people who aren't gonna be with us for a longer term than 3 months, but I could be wrong. I'll let you know for sure tomorrow.

Ya, wouldn't make sense otherwise. I won't take advantage of this anyways, but I was shocked when you said there was no catch and didn't mention this. I thought for once banks were giving away money

The thing is, no matter how 'happy' you are with your bank, it doesn't hurt to sit down with a personal banker from another institution. You may be paying more for the same service, or not getting as much return on an investment. It's just like consumer shoping, yet most people don't see it that way, and stay with a bank, because they haven't screwed up yet.

I'll look into the 'minimum time frame' tomorrow. Never thought about that, but I didn't make the rules of the game either.

The account will be monitored for a month to make sure you have the automatic deposit and the 2 automatic withdrawls coming out of the account. Once those are verified to have been set up, you'll get the $100. Please understand that this is a practice in creating a relationship with new clients for our branch. Please do not abuse this awesome offer.

EDIT: The easiest way to get one of those automatic withdrawls done is setting up an automatic payment towards an RRSP for as little as $25 a month. It gets you on the right path to retirement, and is an tax break as well.
