While I'm all for supporting ideas such as this, I'm kind of supersticious and like Heather to sing it every time.

Maybe the Girl from Edmonton should sing the Anthem in Edmonton?
If she's not wearing a flames jersey I won't be impressed, in fact, I'll be unimpresed.

I think this girl did the anthems a few times for the Edmonton Cracker-Cats last summer. She was excellent in Cree, mediocre in English.

Didn't Susan Aglukark (sp?) sing it in some native tongue last week on the back half HNIC?

Interesting, considering that Cree is spoken in northern Alberta. You would think a Blackfoot language would be more apropos for Calgary, but there are a lot of Flames fans in northern Alberta so I guess it works.

Maybe they don't have a Blackfoot singer but Cree is spoken from Alberta to Quebec and Hobema isn't that far away. Saulteaux and Ogibiway are also close languages to Cree and they're spread from B.C. to Ontario. Great idea, hockey is a big part of native culture.

Yes, I know the Cree language family is widespread across Canada, I was just wondering why they wouldn't have someone singing in the local language. But I guess this is more about the young singer getting a big chance to shine rather than the team specifically going out to find someone to sing in a native language for the novelty.
Does it reflect badly on the Oilers that Calgary is the first to introduce a Cree anthem singer?

Would have been nice if CBC had shown it, but I guess the early game went to a shootout...

I don't pay much attention to the Oilers, but doesn't the fat guy sing every anthem?

Yeah it did.
I am really hoping CBC shows maybe a bit of it during the intermission. Give the girl some air time.
