Default Expire insurance card

This happen to me about two years ago. I was driving down 17 ave S.E, heading to a restaurant with my brother. As soon as i parked a cop pulled me over, for no reason. Ask me to show him the insurance card and license, which i did. After about two minutes, four more cop vechicle pulled in too. Me and brother was like the hell!. They told us to get out the car, then proceed to search it. I asked can you do that, he said, yes its not your car.(was burrowing my other brother car that day) So after all that fuss. Gave me a ticket 172 dollars for failure to disposed expired insurance card. Just giving you guys a heads up.

Thanks. I usually just stuff in the new one if it fits. if not, I throw out all but the most current.I guess I'll check my glove-box.

Oh, by the way, I'd fight the ticket, if you were legit.

I have never come across anything in the Alberta Traffic Safety Act or Regulations indicating that one can be fined for being in possession of expired insurance. Not having insurance...yes....but have a piece of paper that was expired....I don't think so....you probably got a ticket for failure to produce a valid insurance card.

I know, thats what i thought. and trust me on this ,i had the new on me with the old one too. I 've talk to lots of people and no one have heard of this, but its out there. the thing that bugs me the most was that they thought we were some kind of criminal, which they were wrong. Then came some lame ticket. What a joke!

I got a warning when i handed the officer my old and new insurance cards( They were in the same plastic thing) and i was told he would let me off this time but to throw out the old one everytime you get a new one. Was a total suprise to me I thought I couldn't go wrong if I just kept them all in there.
