If the interface is as good as it looks that's the real revolution.

Try reading the blog...a handheld that runs a full OS, a touchscreen GUI, intuitive photomanagement, I'll take that phone over your phone sucker.

That blog is pretty funny. "People are rapt and literally on the edge of their seats..."
That's a pretty slick looking toy. I wonder how much it will cost in Canada. And will you have to go with Cingular if you want one? That was the impression I got but I'm not too bright.

not to mention full wifi support that essentially enables your phone to act as another node in a wifi network. So far, I haven't seen anything close to what this phone can do. The closest thing is a wifi blackberry.

It's GSM - so that means Rogers, and Rogers only in Canada. (They own Fido)

The fact also remains that you're trying to stir up an argument of PC vs. Mac. There have been enough of those. Let it go.
Back on topic...It looks pretty cool, I read it will have 2 different batteries, one that is for the phoning functions, and one for music, but they can both be charged at once. Im gonna let it be out for a year or so before i fork out the cash for it...I want to see what kind of problems, if any, come up with touch screen dailing.
...oh and about the "revolution" part...it is considered one. Multi-touch sensitivity baby!

I hate to be a Debbie Downer here, but I completely agree.
Everything mentioned is already available on most cell phones as it is, plus some. Cells already play mp3s, access the internet (hello... blackberry?), get tv shows, have touch-screens etc.
I think this is a classic case of Apple hype.
I love my iPod, don't get me wrong, but for the amount of money I spent, I could've gotten a much better mp3 player with better software (I hate iTunes, absolutely hate it). So, I feel as though I bought into an over-hyped product.

Looks absolutely sweet. Apple rarely doesn't deliver on what it's products look like, so I'm pretty sure it's every bit as functional as it looks. I wonder how much this thing will cost though, and if it has the possibility of expansion slots for MicroSD or something? Another question is durability...the thing is less than half an inch thick. Also, will Rogers somehow limit some of it's functions when it gets to Canada (if Rogers gets them)?

Everything this does is pretty much available on existing devices, though not all on one single device. EDIT: And nothing with this kind of screen. Windows Mobile truely sucks as well.
The difference with this is the touch screen and the OS. I'm in the industry so I know how completely horrible mobile devices are with respect to usability, interfaces, etc.. That's what appeals to me with this device. Judging from the videos they'll take usability to a whole new level (which really isn't saying much for mobile devices).
The best thing is other people will be forced to improve their devices to keep up.

It's not the fact that there are already cell phones with these features already. It's the fact that every other one has executed the intigration of all the features in such a ****ty way.
I am an Apple fan and it is a neat phone but with the opening price of $499 and $599 US with a 2 year contract that is extortion for what you are getting. If the storage was bumped to at least 20 gigs for the lower priced model then I would consider it more.

Whatever you say Debbie
Ever tried surfing the net on a cell phone?..it is a half-assed experience at best...so while technically you are right everything is kinda available now already, the biggest difference will be the quality of the users experience IMO.
To me this looks like Apple is creeping back to handheld PCs kinda like an iPAQ but less clunky....
