Default Why do my skates hurt my feet>?

Recently I bought some skates and after about 3 weeks of using them, my feet still feel like they are going to cramp up really bad. I know a lot of people on this board skate and I’m hoping you may have suggestions. Crappy skates? Takes a long time to get used to? I bought them at crappy tire for 90$ due to the fact I haven’t skated in years and didn’t want to blow $120+ to learn. Any help would be appreciated.

My skates were only $100, RBK 3k's and I love them. I actually put them in the oven to warm up the material, and took them out, put em on, tightened them up and kept them on in my feet for 10 minutes.

Then I baked them again, tied them up as tight as possible (Without my feet in them this time) and left them overnight.

The results blew me away, it's like i've been skating in them for years.

By the sounds of it though, you may be tying them to tight around the arch of your foot, I like it somewhat loose there but tight around my ankles.

Disclaimer, I am not buying you new skates if this doesn't work!!

If you want to try to bake them, heat your oven to 150 F put them on a baking sheet for a good 10 minutes and do the two steps I mentioned above.

It worked great to for me

Before baking skates that aren't designed to be heat-molded, I would just try leaving them looser in the boot. Often people tie their skates too tight, and that can cause you to have a lot of pain. It's also possible they don't fit well. What size are your skates? They should be about 2 sizes smaller than your shoe size. Your toe should just barely touch the inside of the skate when you stand, but shouldn't feel scrunched.

In all my hockey years, the same thing happened with every pair of skates I owned except one.

For the first few times wearing them every year my feet would hurt. Then they would feel fine for the rest of the season.

The only time that didn't happen was when I was around 12 and they had those moulded (aka pretty much solid plastic skates). They sucked hard.

My first thought is the same as Iowa's, don't tighten the skates too tight over the arch of your foot. Go to town around the ankles but if you feel your feet getting cold while you are playing it usually means you're skates are way too tight around the arch. I guess there is a vein there.

If that's not the problem then try some new inserts. The inserts that came with my first pair of skates were so crappy and unsupportive that my feet ached for days after a game. I changed them up and the difference was like night and day

Ahh yes the good old Micron's?

I'll be the first ton confess that I have never owned a brand new pair of skates and I may be into my 30's before I get the oppotunity

The only good thing about them was a puck off the boot didn't hurt (actually, wasn't even felt).

its one of two things, they might have been said but i know my feet hurt if A I tie them to tight or if I am not making proper strides and like running on my skates. Most likely the tightness of the boot though

Some people also have really wide feet, if you do lots of skates will really hurt unless you get the proper fit boot.

Take them to SportChek or Sportmart. They should have a device that's similar to a hair dryer. I did that with my Nike Quest 9s. It's not 'baking', but it heats up the boot to mould better. It helped a lot. I don't think putting them in your oven will make your next cake or cookies turn out well.

If they say that it's for customers only, tell them that you're fully prepaired to buy some sock tape.
