Default Coast to Coast Canada in Winter

On a motorcycle. This guy may be crazy but he's leaving Victoria on Jan.1 and heading for Newfoundland. Global warming may help him but I don't think he'll be comfortable and it could get very dangerous.

another link. I'm going to follow this guy to see how he does.

I may be talking to myself here but for Paul, so far so good. I mean he's made some progress and he's safe. Roads have closed due to avalanches so he's holed up in Sycamous.

Anyways this guys trip appeals to my sense of adventure. He's made it through the Rockies and is now all the way to Speedy Creek.
Pictures a little down on page 23.

I don't know the guy but he got BMW to give him the motorcycle and he may try to do a magazine story. Charities, I don't know, maybe he didn't want all the organization involved. He left two weeks after he first posted his idea.

I've done it, but on train, bus, and plane. Not quite as dramatic as on motorcycle. However I did get to see every Canadian NHL team play in their home rink (how I miss the Saddledome)

my sister and her husband passed a motorcycle with a sidecar traveling back from Invermere last week in a snowstorm. It takes a special kind of stupid to travel by motorcycle in weather like that.

According to that thread someone has already crossed Canada in winter on a motorcycle with sidecar. This will be the first on a motorized two wheeler. I agree traveling in a snowstorm is pretty stupid but I've been caught a couple of times in Calgary out in a freak snowfall. I think he plans on giving 'er when the weather allows and waiting her out otherwise. Some riders, ride all year on studded tires, not my cup of tea but I admire their fortitude.

Paul has made good time across the prairies and is now in Dryden, Ont.. I think his worse stretch was Golden to Calgary. Here's 13 pages of photos and video covering Victoria to Calgary.

Happy to report that Paul has made it safe and sound to St. Johns Newfoundland through snow, strong winds, rain and tempertures of -30 or so. He had no special support other than good wishers along the way and his own skill and determination.
