That little hot dog weiner that used jump rope in between movies.

One time some guy climbed to the top of the screen and mooned everyone.

I loved the dusk-to-dawn movies they would have on long weekends. 4 movies. Nothing like getting home at 7:00 am...

Oh man. My parents used to take my brother and I there with them and just put us in our jammies with some blankets in the back seat and let us fall asleep while they watched a movie or two. My parents were/are cool....

Who me? Nope. Pretty sure he was one of my bros friends though. I used to go with my older brother and try to stay out of trouble, while everyone around us was picking fights. I stopped going when guys started taking bats.

Edit: I'm actually thinking of Steve Frost. One of the local heavies who used to run in those circles.

Loved going there. Too bad the drive-in has all but died.

What's a drive in???

Sorry it had to be said ....... I never went to one that I can remember, aparently when I was little my parents would take us to the one outside of S'toon, it's closed down too. The last one I saw still in use was in the Okanagan Valley south of Vernon I think.

The one in Winnipeg is still open- for now. It had closed down at one point but due to popular demand it re-opened. I think somebody in the gov't bought the land and gave them a really cheap lease.

But when I drove by last week they were still playing the same movie they were showing the last time. "Closed for the season."

Must be a popular movie.

It's strange that they haven't taken the screens down.

i was thinking of this one day - why drive-ins are gone, and i think it's closely tied to the death of the bench seat!

Ha Ha, I was just going to say that too. There used to be one in Kamloops my husband and I went to when we were teens. I think it closed down the year we moved to Calgary. The food was gross and the bathrooms dirty but it made for a cheap date. The weather there is so mild they were open most of the year.

Or at the very least the birth of the centre console.

The only time I was there was the Sunday before the Hub Oil explosion wrecked the place. At least I got to go once.

Now a days I probably wouldn't want to go to a drive inn. Listening to the audio on your car radio would suck compared to the digital sound in the big theaters.

I only went once. I was 8 and we were supposed to be watching Free Willy 2 but my attention was turned to the other screen where Species was playing. First movie-boob moment!
