I thought it was illegal. I thought that you had to be at least 12 years old before you could operate any kind of gun, whether it's a paintball gun, a nail gun, potato gun, or a pistol - because of the rate at which the objects project. Something over a certain number of feet per second, or something.

I hope you're right. There is a certain amount of responsibilty and maturity that someone should have before they can handle a fire arm, regardless of whether or not an adult is assisting them.

If it is illegal, someone should send that video to the police or family services in whatever state it is from.

getting the kid to fire a gun at such a young age is not a good idea. What if one day he decides to show of his skill at school or something?

Hopefully, he gets reported for doing something illegal.

As much as I am opposed to everybody owning guns, my buddy took me hunting a few weeks ago with his 8 and 11 year old sons. The kids had an enourmous respect for the rifles and what they could do. In the car ride there and cooking hot dogs over the fire it was all fun and games, but once we were armed it was all serious. My buddy said by showing his kids the correct use for guns at a young age tought them the respect they needed.

I don't think the kids were that young though.

Wow that's terrible.

How about a father and his six year old son hunting.

Or how about a crazy grandmother with a fully automatic.

Gotta love America!

You wonder where Columbine-type incidents begin? When the parents tolerate it. No two ways about it, even if that kid does end up having a decent head on his shoulders someday, it's still a scary thing to see.

I agree thats too young, but like mentioned above alot of kids in the 8-11 year age go hunting with the old man or relative and learn what a gun can do. But to come out and say that colombine begins because a dad is teaching a child to shoot is a ridiculous comment. Because a dad teaching a youngin how to shoot at a range or such doesnt mean there gonna go shoot up a school. Im not saying that what the main video showed was okay because that kid was too young but that isnt going to effect how he grows up.

This is actually a good thing:
Im gonna do the same with my son- i'd rather have my son be gun safe, rather than some dumbass kid who finds his dad's gun and starts messing with it cause he doesnt know any better...

I never said that is what is going to happen and there are many more cases of young men learning to use a gun who become good citizens as opposed to those who become bad. But, planting that seed in a child that young whose mind is still being developed and who clearly wouldn't know right from wrong at this point is beyond fathomable. To me it starts them on a path of enjoying violence, and there's no way you can spin that to being a good thing in my opinion.
