Default Colts/Bears Superbowl 3rd most watched program in television history!

Wow, insane numbers for the Superbowl this year. 3rd most watched television program in history behind 1996 Superbowl and Mash season finale.

Haha, how happy is Grossman knowing that he showed that HUGE of an audience that he isn't even fit to be a backup QB.

Prince must have helped.

http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdail...painted-white/

Prince seemed determined to prove two points: (1) turquoise and tangerine don’t clash (2) he’s still one of America’s most underrated guitar heroes. He succeeded on both counts, though somebody else seemed to be playing the solo during the Foo Fighters cover. And if a dramatic white sheet concealed Prince just as it came time for the “Purple Rain” solo — well, chalk that up to the necessities of TV production and just be glad nobody got electrocuted performing in a Miami monsoon. It was still the best Super Bowl halftime show ever.

When Prince emerged in that outfit, we all thought it was smart for him to wear the Miami Dolphins' colours. He did kick all kinds of ass during that halftime show.

Chicago is an insane sports town. If the Cubs ever make the World Series again, the numbers will be through the roof! Thinking back, Cubs-Yankees in 2003 would have broken every record in the book. Thanks Bartman!!

Yeah, and also a lil off topic, but did anyone know that other than Thanksgiving, Superbowl Sunday is the BIGGEST day in terms of food consumption? So much for THOSE New Year's resolutions!

And Im not surprised, because about 2 hours before the game, I stopped by the local Safeway to pick up some snacks and beer to bring to the party I was going to. Well lemme tell you..it was a MADHOUSE! People were shopping as if the world was going to run out of food or something...but the funny thing is, only things like chips, beer, nachos, veggie trays, etc were being bought. No one really cared about the apples and oranges. Hehe

I don't know if anyone reads TMQ, but he has a great article after the superbowl about the popularity of football.

For anyone who likes US ball, TMQ is about the best author/journalist on earth. Very smart, scientific, creative, sarcastic and very funny. He also does profiles on cheerleaders.

Difference being you need the whole country/continent/world to break a viewing record. The cities of NY and Chicago won't do it alone and the World Series isn't anywhere near the 'must watch' status is as the Super Bowl for the casual viewer. And baseball is insanely boring to watch compared to football. A World Series game will never top those numbers.

Colts have had the top 3 games in terms of ratings the last 3 years, only fitting peyton's big game gets the best ratings. still in shock a week later that he finally did it, bill simmons can suck a big nut

There are Cubs and Yankees fans everywhere! including all over Calgary.
Game 7 would have been close but maybe you're right, NFL has exceeded all sports!
