Read the auction first to see if it mentions shipping time, but it probably won't. After a reasonable amount of time, 2 weeks maybe, email the seller to see if he knows what the problem is. If they aren't responding properly, get in touch with eBay to see if they can do anything.

A day, every time i've bought something I usually get a request for payment immediatly, I pay and it's sent the next morning to me. Shipping takes time obviously but it should be out the sellers door within a day if he's a good seller.
What's the sellers feedback like?

Also make sure you keep copies of all communication with the seller.

Where is it coming from? Stuff from the US can take a couple of weeks.
You can also fire off a polite email, something like:
"Hello. I won auction#XXXXXXXXXXX on December 28, and I was wondering if you could tell me when it was sent out? Sorry to bother you, but as can appreciate I am anxious to use my new (item.)"
Some sellers tell you each step; others just fire it off to you. There's no point in making the seller take a defensive posture prior the transaction ending; especially if they may have done nothing wrong other than having less than perfect communications skills.

The seller has 100% feedback and about 40 feedback points. It's just weird, i've asked him a couple questions and have had zero response... It's only been 2 days, so i'm not panicing yet.

i typically pay as soon as the auction ends. there are some sellers that say they want you to wait and pay via there request, but it is generally a pretty safe bet to just pay.
it is a little weird that the seller hasnt repsonded though, you would think he would want his money...
since the guy has 40 positive feedbacks though, i would assume he is a reputable seller. are most of his scores buying or selling?

i think it might have something to do with the holidays slowing down shipping time.. i ordered something on dec 16th and it arrived yesterday. i'm quite certain that the shipper shipped the item right away,as i've bought from him before.
but if you're wondering, it doesn't hurt just to send a friendly email to the seller and check if he's shipped it.

This is another question on Ebay... I have many things to sell, but really nothing to buy OFF ebay... whats the best way of getting positive feedback so the chance of people buying from me is higher?
(and don't tell me to buy feedback)

sometimes things are stuck at the border for a few weeks. You may find that the seller shipped the item right away, for now give the seller the benefit of the doubt.

Make sure that you send him a message through Ebay. If you still don't get a response, send one with Outlook and request a read receipt. This way you will know when he has read the email and he should respond.
I am in the opposite situation where someone has bid and paid for my auction (Anaheim tickets) and hasn't responded to any of my emails.
Good luck.

Just to clairify I have already sent payment, and have sent a couple messages to the seller just to ask things like when will it ship, and if he could send some other info specific to the product. I've never had a seller not respond within a couple hours, weird...we'll see what happens.

Since it has been holiday time, I would not panic. And things going across the border take a lot of time during this time period. And also, the person in question might also have taken some holiday time.
One would expect however they would at least answer your e-mail inquiries. Any time I have purchased on E-Bay, I have had feedback all along the way, saying when they expect to ship, time to expect for arrival, when actually shipped etc.
And I save and print off and keep everything until I receive the item. A copy of the actual sale, any correspondence you send, or you receive, I copy and print off all of it.

I, too, save all the emails sent by eBay, myself, and the seller until the transaction is 100% complete, including feedback sent by both parties.
A seller's feedback of even 40 would suggest someone being on the up-and-up ... I am not super familiar with the intricacies of eBay but there must be some kind of FAQ or forum they have set up that can help you prepare for the possibility that you have been ripped off.
