The Minnesota Wild are pleased to announce that team captain Joe Sakic and #1 netminder Evgeny Nabakov have both signed new 3 year deals with the club.
As per team policy, terms were not released but it is believed both players are making close to or at max dollars.
GM Farhall talked about the deals.
"Well Joe's deal was done some time ago but we wanted to announce both of these at the same time. In the case of Joe, he's one of the best players in the league, our captain and a proven winner. Its an easy decision to commit to him long-term.
In the case of Evgeny, its a lot of money to commit, but the reality is that he's a proven #1 goalie in this league, and that is a hard commodity to find. We simply could not afford to have him walk away from us this offseason as a UFA.
We are thrilled that both players have agreed to commit to our organization for the next 3 years and thank both Anarchy and Quan for the smooth negotiations".
