Default Toyota developing blood alcohol sensor in steering wheels

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070103/...runken_driving

Cars fitted with the detection system will not start if sweat sensors in the driving wheel detect high levels of alcohol in the driver's bloodstream.

Definitely an interesting idea! It's great to see a major car company being pro-active when it comes to drunk drivers. I'm not sure of the blood alcohol maximums around the world, but I'd assume each car will have to be adjusted to certain rules and regulations.

one small step for a car company

another giant leap for the police state.

add to that the BAC sensors going into celphones.

just like the chips going into people, marketed as good for keeping track of your children, and if you're against it, you're a child molestor.

i love how this logic is used, we're such easy creatures to manipulate.

I fail to see how car not starting = police state. Sometimes these sorts of inventions can be for the public good...

You'd rather people drove drunk and possibly got in an accident and injured somebody else?

let's put aside the entire issue of assuming guilt automatically for a moment...

and look at how many technologies are going into tracking our movements for toll roads, for car rental agencies, and looks like a global mileage tax payable to some globalist organization linked to the UN / world bank.

this is all part of the big trap, and every little piece of that net looks like a good idea.

the road to hell...

no, we willingly embrace things to bring us safety, not realizing that there are agendas at work to enslave us and these same technologies help that agenda.

not every single little thing is controlled by some vast conspiracy, but there are definitely interests that watch as we enslave ourselves.

enslave us??

If I am enslaved than I guess I had a really skewed view of slavery.

none so enslaved as those that believe they are free.

we're not there yet, but we're working on it.

I'm all for keeping drunks off the road but other forms of tracking may not be so nice.

Wait until our insurance companies get a hold of this.

In this case, I'll take less freedom over getting killed by a drunk driver.

That said this seems to have so many problems that I don't seeing it being effective.

What it you are wearing gloves? If you can't wear gloves when what do you do in February in Canada?

breathalizers linked to your ignition? I think those exist as well.

I think the market will determine if something like this is wanted. Naturally, if one drinks & drives, they probably won't purchase one of these vehicles (until such devices become mandatory...like seatbelts, and other parts of the net )

Hopefully we get there soon. I can't stand this secret enslavement. I wish they would get it over and stop toying with me.

well, it's pretty simple.

it's not directly connected to the emerging police state, but why connect it?

our rights disappear more and more and one of those rights is to not be searched without suspicion or reason.

we keep handing pieces of our freedom away, and eventually, if we really work on it, our descendents will have nothing of what we think of as freedom today.

and that's all assuming there ISN'T anything pushing any of these agendas, and there are.
