Fireplace Arm Guy Lookout thread
No appearance yet... what's the deal?
Here's the email I sent to Shaw:
Quote:
Hi there, I was just wondering when the famous Fireplace channel featuring the Fireplace arm guy will make his debut on Calgary Channel 9?
The Fireplace and Fireplace Arm Guy are a staple of the Christmas Holidays.
Please let me know a.s.a.p. on the status of said Fireplace and Fireplace Arm Guy channel.
Thank you.

The mysterious arm that pops out every now and again to put a log on the fire

They should mix things up a bit and have different hands show up. Like...suddenly have a black guy's hand show up, or possibly a robot claw, or even an animal's hand like an ape or orangutan.
I mean the possibilities are endless...it doesn't even have to be a hand. It could be magic/sorcery where the log suddenly appears, or a log goes flying into the fire

It's the same "fireplace guy" all throughout Alberta. When I go home to visit my parents in Fort McMurray for xmas, it's the same fireplace guy on there.
Did you know you can buy the VHS of fireplace guy? Pretty funny, lol.

Weak... totally weak. You know, I was thinking Fireplace arm guy is the same stubby feller from those Panago commercials.

I actually used to sell that DVD to people when I worked at HMV.
I wonder if there's an HD version available yet, that would look amazing!
You could see all the detail in his arm hair!

Yeah, but the lame video versions of Fireplace arm guy have Christmas music. That totally sucks.
Fireplace arm guy is only good because of the sounds of crackling flames and the shifting of charred logs rubbing against each other as Fireplace arm guy readjusts the firewood
What are us digital cable guys (I finally had to switch) supposed to do since we don't even have channel 9?
=EDIT
WOW it's $1.99 for 24 hours of "natural fireplace sounds" on Shaw Video on Demand. Disgusting. This should be a freebie.

honestly, with the amazing technology available to consumers these days, it'd be pretty damn easy to make your own fireplace channel.
i'm not sure if this is an indictment of message board boredom in general or our fascination with television, but this seems to be a passionate subject, does anyone have a fireplace and digtal recording equipment?
someone could issue a 'CP edition' fireplace DVD, with options like zoomout right before a bikini girl drops a log in, something like that.
CP would be a great forum for ideas such as those.

Haha that's so funny that he's on everywhere in Alberta. I grew up in Fort McMurray, and I thought they only had him on tv there since they don't have much choice for programming and local channels. I didnt realize it was a "tradition" throughout the province. Hilarious!
