Pffft. You ain't seen a Wal-mart unless you've been to Texas. All open 24 hours and bigger than an NFL football stadium. Finding contact solution was a bitch.

That's crazy. How many people go xmas shopping at 3am?

On the opposite end of the specturm Wal-mart here (Montreal) is open from 12-5 on weekends -- as are most stores.

Actually there are only 2 Wal-Mart in Calgary open 24 hours till Christmas Eve.

The two are, Shawnessey SW and 36th Street NE.
At least that's what the news and Wal-mart had annouced...

I am an insomniac. I love going to Walmart at 3 am. It is really surreal. The lights are on, the music is playing, the building is the size of the Saddledome (I am in Texas), and the place is totally deserted. I usually don’t buy anything because Walmart is evil, but it is good exercise running up and down the isles screaming.

Those fat people scooters are fun to ride too. You can joust with the pool noodles if you like.

Same with the ones in California...it's fun, but annoying. All I was looking for was some Windex and they gave me a MAP to the place...took me forever to find the aisle! I almost wish they were smaller. However, the fact that they're open 24 hours is awesome when it's super late and you want to buy a random DVD to watch and eat some popcorn. Hehe we did that at like 1 am the other day.

London was chosen as one of the first places in Canada to get one of those mega-Wal Marts. I haven't been because I despise Wal Mart, but friends of ours have and they say its ridiculously huge. I can wait.

Me too! I'm up till all hours of the morning anyways.

I'd also like at least one electronics store open 24 hrs, and a multitude of restaurants.

I know it wont happen...

As a former employee of the company. It makes no sense to me cause when i work there and we were open 7 am -11pm No one came in from 10-11. Like people have pointed out before in this topic there is no staff we barely had enough staff to run the store in the regular hours.

I think it does make sense only because these companies usually have stock people there at night. So might aswell have a skeleton crew there to sell some **** if people are going to be there to begin with.

The company I work for isnt open on Sundays in most stores. They tried a project a couple years ago to open on Sundays and discovered that what they sold on Sundays matched what they lost in sales Monday to Saturday. Revenues remained constant but staff costs went up. Bad buisness.

Walmart likely would find the same thing under normal circumstances. The gains they make by opening 24 hours would be eaten up by the fact that those same customers would have shopped their during regular hours anway. Xmas rush is a different animal altogether, however.

Well it does make life easier for the odd shift worker who's heading home at midnight but is still somewhat awake. I do imagine that the lack of staff makes it a great time to walk into the grocery isle and collect the goods to make myself a sandwich and a jug of chocolate milk and than fade off into the pet section. Heck grab a frozen dinner, and head to the sporting goods section and fire up a habachi.
