Heart Warming Christmas Story
Hey Everyone,
I live out on the East Coast, so not sure if you would get this story. We saw it on CBC news (television) today, and since it occurred in Calgary, I am sure it is getting airplay there.
Anyways, this little girl - I am going to guess somewhere between 7 - 12 years old or so - somehow became aware that people in the Drop In Centre (for those that do not live in Calgary, the Drop In is a shelter for homeless people) were sleeping with just a sheet, because of a shortage of blankets. The girl didn't think this was right, so she organized a drive at her school and collected ~ 150 blankets!
However, the story does not end there. The clients of the Drop In Centre - remember these are homeless people who have NO money - thought the world of this girl's actions, truly appreciating what she did. So they then spent the time collecting pop cans and bottles, returning them for the refund.
They pooled all of their collected money together as a way to say thank you, and proceeded to get the girl a gift. They had a ceremony where they presented it to her, all done up in Christmas wrapping.
So What did they get her?
An Ipod. Yes, an Ipod.
To put it in perspective, that would be like one of us dropping ~ $1,000 dollars down, likely even more. A truly remarkable story when you consider what a) the girl did, and then b) what the reciepnts, with no money at all, did in response.
Truly remarkable....
