Default Hi, I'm a Mac. And I'm a PC

What do CPers think of this ad campaign? I personally think it's brilliant. I enjoy pretty much all of those commercials that they run. I wont be buying a mac anytime soon, but my favorite is:

Also, check out this spoof (PS3 vs. Wii)

I find the smugness of the mac guy really annoying. And I love macs.

"I hope it's a C++ GUI Programing Guide!!!"

I think it's the best ad campaign of the year for sure.

I love it. I think it makes it even funnier that the PC guy looks alot like Bill Gates.

I like the concept, but I don't like the guys they cast as the Mac guy. He reminds me of a 14 yr old emo kid.

Yup. Good eye! Hodgman is an infrequent correspondent for the Daily Show, but his funniest work that I know of is in his book Areas of My Expertise. Hilarious stuff--I highly recommend it.

Hodgman makes those commercials happen. The Mac guy isn't really all that interesting, in my opinion--but Hodgman plays "PC" with pure bathos.

Apple is pretty wel known for great campaigns.

The best one IMO was "Think Different"

John Hodgeman has got to be one of the stories of the year... about a year ago he was simply a writer (albeit a very good one) with some radio work, and now he's one of the most recognisable faces on television. It was great that the Daily Show recognised his brilliance during that first interview and made him a regular contributor to the show.

Why does wanting something that works make one an irrational, immature kid?

Clearly you have never used a Mac, they are very good computers, I love my Macbook, best computer I have ever owned.

I think they killed this campaign pretty quickly because it wasn't working and the smugness was actually turning people off.

I think he was joking..you mac users get so defensive. They should put that in their ads.

But that's my whole point. They should move away from the stereotypes of Mac users.
Especiallly when they're trying to expand their market to families and such..
By using that guy, they're appealing to a market they already have, instead of getting everyone else.

I've seen two new ones in the last couple of weeks. I'm no expert on advertising, but as far as I can tell the campaign is still going strong.

Agreed. Everything about my Macbook makes me giggle like a 14 year old emo kid. The fact that wireless took about 14 seconds to set up made me happy. I remember the nightmares on my old pc.

A better question is why are PCs so crappy?
