south Calgary passport office
Hi,
Im looking for someone who has been to the south calgary passport office.
I have to go tomorrow, and know its something like 14431 Macleod trail SW, and is just south of Canyon Meadows Blvd (?)
Anyway, whats the easiest way to get in there, and is it right on southbound macleod, or behind some other buildings?
cheers,

I believe it is just South of the Humptys. So, turn off MacLeod before Humptys, turn left and it should be right there. Before the C-Train I think.

Can you pick up a passport there now? When it opened, you could only submit applications there, and had to pick it up downtown.

Yeah it's right by the humptys. Used to live over there.
Go south bound on Mcleod and take your first right AFTER Canyon Meadows drive. Then turn left towards the shops and you can't miss it.

No you can apply at a post office but then you need to send the orginal copies of your identification if you go to the harry hayes or the south office they will just photo copy and check you identification so you dont have to send it in. But they don't provide pick up at the south location they would either mail it to you or you could pick it up at hary hayes. If you pick it up at harry hayes you wont have to wait in the huge line they have a seperate place to just come and pick it up and its takes no time usally.
This link might help.

Get there first thing when they open. From what i've heard there a huge line ups as people are trying to get their passports before the deadline.

They send it to you via the mail. You get a card that you take down to the post office where you exchange it for your passport.

Where Canyon Meadows merges onto Macleod South and the lane for James Mckevitt(sp?) starts, get all the way into your right lane. It might say Bannister road. Before it curls around to go back under Macleod aim for the Humptys.

Thats correct, simply take Macleod trail south then turn right, right after the Canyon Meadows overpass. The Pass Port office is located by Humptys.
A tip on Passports, make sure you fill out your application Online. There is no lineup for the people who fill it on line.
As for the process once they process your application they will mail it to your home address.

It is on the west side of Macleod Trail just a bit south of the Green Gate garden center. Take the same turn off west as if going to Green Gate garden center, and when you come to the T intersection, turn left and go south a bit. When you see Humpty's, you will also see a building with a big Canadian Flag. That is the passport office.
You can drop them off, they mailed mine by registered letter. But beware, long waits now. They used to guarantee 2 weeks or less, not anymore. Even a year ago, I never got mine in that time frame and had to make some desperate calls and in the end, they couriered it to my house.

The most important thing to do is register online first. You will get bumped WAYYY up the line.
Go on to the Canadian Passport Website, and you can prefill out most of the forms.
Trust me, you will thank me later.

Ugh. Long story.
I did that first, but then the margins of my browser settings were screwed up, so then i fixed that, but it started going over 3 pages and then my guarantor wouldn't sign my application because i forgot a page, so i had to get a regular application from the post office...
bah.
But i am registered online, so that might help... i just don't have that actual application with me, since my guarantor didn't sign it.

Seriously. You need to do this. You'll save anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours of waiting. The online application is by far the way to go...

From reading this thread, Im assuming that to enter the US, all Canadians must now use a passport to enter Canada? I live in the US and not to bash em or anything, but they barely cover the story here......do u know if the same applies for Americans entering Mexico or Canada?
I just got my US citizenship and have dual now

A passport will be required as of Jan, 2007. I can not remember the exact date.

From Air Canada's website:
MONTRÉAL, November 22, 2006 - Air Canada reminds air travelers that new document requirements will come into effect January 23, 2007, as per the United States' Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI). At this time, all passengers including Canadian and U.S. citizens will be required to present a valid passport when traveling by air between Canada and the United States.
We strongly recommend customers who do not hold valid passports apply for new passports well in advance of travel plans.
This new regulation is a change from prior requirements. Effective January 23, 2007, driver licenses and other government-issued photo identification will no longer be accepted as valid travel documentation for Canadian and U.S. citizens traveling by air between Canada and the United States. Alternatively, NEXUS Air cards will be accepted by U.S. authorities when traveling by air from Vancouver International Airport to the United States.
Additional information on Canada-U.S. border regulations is available from the Canada Border Services Agency www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca. Information on Canadian passport applications is available from Passport Canada www.pptc.gc.ca.
