for those of you that know what this is. What is the coop mode like? Can you play missions with like 3 or 4 of your friends? I hear a lot of good things about the coop mode, supposedly, one of the best.

I've only played co-op mode. 2 players is the max you can play with (haven't even tried the single player mode yet). Its pretty sweet, lots of tactics, you can revive each other when you die unlimited times (no lives/continues crap)... lots of 'teamwork' involved like flanking, firing at enemies from different angles, etc.

All in all its pretty cool so far... I can't imagine what online would be like, but hopefully i'll get xbox live soon.

Do you have to start from the first act and play through to the end in one sitting?? Or can you save, and even pick it up where you left off with a different partner?

The Coop mode involves 2 players... but you can save and pick up at anytime with it.... you can basically play any act/level you want once you have passed it.. with anyone you want.. and you can start back further with someone new to the game and not lose your progress...

Also... if you Xbox live capabilites you can play a single player game.. .and invite a friend to join you and help you out for an area... then they can leave and you can keep playing one player..

I havent tried the online multiplayer yet, but i quess it is a 4 vs 4 type thing, as well as various other interesting games...

I am about half way through it, and hate waiting for my buddy to come over so we can continue the game.... it gets real hard at times..

I'm curious. Is it possible to play online with 3 players in coop mode? I understand it's only 2 players for local...but what if I want to play with 3 or 4 friends, all coop?

Edit: Hmm..I think I might have found some answers to that. Seems you're not able to play more than 2 players coop...local or online.

The 4x4 is pretty cool. Unlike CoD2 where you just respawn when you die, in Gears, you die and that is it for that round (you become a spectator). The rounds don't usually last long. Teammates can revive you if you are downed. The chainsaw kills are very cool and the shotgun blasts are messy as well.

Love it so far.

I just picked this one up today after work and played a couple of hours co-op with a buddy. What a riot this game is.

This game is fantastic!

I noticed EB games has a 'Trade in 3, get this free' promotion. Couldn't somebody go to Cash Converters and buy 3 $10-$15 games and trade those in? The game is going for, what? $70?

FYI, for those considering getting an XBox 360 soon consider this sale from Future Shop. Here is the link to forum topic at red flag deals http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/s...d.php?t=363872

Basically it's the XBox 360 core and premium bundle with Gears of War and Ridge Racer 6 for free. That's 4 games with the other two differing depending on the bundle.

DO NOT BUY A CORE!!! Get the Premium, the money you'd spend on the HDD, Wireless controller and HDTV Cable would cost more than the difference.

It's a rip.

Is this game worth buying an xbox360 for?

I noticed that futureshop is having some in-store sales with the launch of ps3 like this:

http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...gon=&langid=EN

I wouldnt say that it is necessarily worth buying an entire system for... i am sure that the PS3 will have games that will be just as good... and may see Gears of War before long on their system..

I have an Xbox because i like the controls better, as well as, i find the hockey games more fun on this console..

That being said, i have never been a big first person/3rd person shooter fan (other than Goldeneye on N64)... it is just plain fun.. i am usually exclusively into sport games..

Good luck with a M$ Produced game on a PS3, it should it the PC market sometime in Christmas 07.

You will then be able to play against Xbox360 fans on Xbox live from your PC.

Gears of War is supposedly the Launch title for the Xbox Live integration with PC users.

Well, I made the jump.

From PS2 -> 360!

Since PS3 can't be in High-Def for my TV, it was an easy decision.

And let me tell youo this game looks UNREAL

Now just have to get somewhat reasonable at it b4 going online...

I really enjoy playing this game so far. My only beef I think is that the AI enemies (in the campaign) seem very automated, very predictable. Plus there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of variation in the types of enemies. It would be cool to see a bit more variety in what they looked like, the typical biped ones all look the same to me... kind of like HALO I guess.

Should be cool to play online though... I should really get xbox live at some point, especially since I've also got CoD3.

unless they add in mouse/keyboard functionality to the Xbox GoW version, those players will be at a huge disadvantage to PC users simply because of better controls
