So, in my neighbourhood, a developer is proposing to build a condo complex 100m away from a 250m high TV tower.

The complex is the larger brown box. The TV tower is in the cluster of small red boxes to the east.

Apparently, the developer says that these things are designed to "fall on themselves..." Though I have also heard that this isn't strictly true (e.g. if one of the cables snaps.)
That leaves the health concerns of living so close to one of these things. Various industry groups say these things are safe, and they are probably right, but I still wouldn't want to chance it after seeing stuff like this: (Doubles incidence of childhood leukemia.)
