Trying to think of a movie

I think it was a small release movie. I remember wanting to see it down at the theatre in kensington (or that area) a few years ago 2003 maybe?

It was about Cuban teenagers, or Mexican teenagers on the street. Or surfing, or gangs or something like that. I think it did fairly well for being an non-big-studio movie. Although I could be wrong about that.

Anyway, if anyone knows what it might be I'd appreciate it.

I think they were like street kids. and they might have surfed... yeah not very helpful.

Ummm.. I think it might have been about like growing up on the streets in mexico or cuba..
