Default Take the money and run

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The driver of a Brinks armored truck apparently took the money and ran. James Parker drove away in the truck — carrying several hundred thousand dollars — after a co-worker left the vehicle to pick up a deposit at a home-improvement store. The truck was found later with the engine running in the Brinks parking lot — but Parker and the cash remain missing. Parker has yet to be found.

Sounds like a Steve Miller song.....bets on how long till they catch the guy? A few hundred grand aint worth it...

If it's enough money and he managed to get out of the country good for him I say. When the rest of your life looks like you're going to be some low tier middle class schmuck who works for the man long enough so that you can afford to put yourself in a care home and rot away your final years why put up with that? Take the cash, spend it lavishly and than go to some lame ass minimum security prison for a couple years and behave well so you can get out in 23 months.

i love hearing stuff like this, the central reserve banks have been fabricating money out of nothing at least since 1913 (and before that on a fractional basis) and in many many ways this is a victimless crime, though it does slightly devalue the economy when they 'whip up' replacement, insured money.

that's true.

victimless is indeed a stretch. but it's not like this money is coming out of a shopkeeper's till, i know this isn't a pure of heart crime but i just can't get too mad aboot it - not after realizing that the banks are dealing with funny money.

I agree. Pretty neat to root for the underdog, and this case is no exception. France doesn't have an extradition treaty with the US IIRC, and that's the place where all felons go. This is pretty neat though, he never "hurt" anyone, so that's pretty cool.
