Powerplay Quarterback

Wow what a odd film, It was better then I thought it would be...
"Team America, an international police force dedicated to maintaining global stability, learns that a power hungry dictator is brokering weapons of mass destruction to terrorists."
"An animated character, like Bugs Bunny or Buzz Lightyear, can be a potent, charismatic presence. So can a Muppet, or even a fiendish ventriloquist's dummy. But a marionette? It's a block-headed, limp-bodied doll dangling from — and therefore controlled by — some unseen god. "
Opens this weekend
"Do NOT take your children to this movie!!!"
-- Linda Cook, QUAD CITY TIMES (DAVENPORT, IA)

I was thinking of going to see it this weekend, it looks pretty funny (big Southpark fan) and mostly because of the "city wok" guy who plays the Korean dictator has the best voice ever.

The South Park guys were on Conan last night to promote the film. Sounds like they would never make another puppet movie. They were frustrated that the censors cut the 2 minute love scene to 45 seconds.
Good early reviews:
http://www.metacritic.com/film/titles/team...icaworldpolice/
Dallas Observer / Luke Y. Thompson:
Bottom line: It's hilarious, vicious, offensive, thoroughly profane and a joy to watch, just like you'd expect. Be sure to sit through the end credits for a bonus song from Kim Jong-il to Alec Baldwin.

Yeah I saw them on Conan as well.
Some of the locals would have appreciated what they had to say about Michael Moore.
Guy with Brown Hair: "I did the interview then they did that thing that looked like South Park but that wasnt us, that's what Michael Moore does, he puts two things together to make something out of nothing"
Guy with Blonde Hair: "Yeah, and he's fat".
It was funny. He said he did the interview for BowlingforColumbine because he grew up in Littleton and then Michael Moore screwed him over, making a fake SouthPark segment which 90% of people (including me) thought was their work. They don't even agree with the gun control message it seems.

" What we are trying to do is represent the rest of America," Stone says, "basically those who believe that Bush is an idiot and that Michael Moore is an idiot too. We're kind of just in the middle going, 'I don't pretend to know this sh*t.' "

They managed to talk George W. Bush to star in the movie?

I avoided Farenheit 9/11 as well as the right wing answer of the same ilk but I'm a Thunderbirds fan from way back and this actually looks hilarious. I might check it out. Does it have Wookies in it?

Kinda off topic, but have you seen the trailer for the upcoming Thunderbirds movie?! F***ing live-actor boyband bull! Completely ruining one of my favorite childhood memories. I've never been so angry about a film adaptation of a TV show!
Sorry, any mention of the Thunderbirds right now sets me off.

I'm pretty sure the Thunderbirds movie came and went without much of a whimper, so that should make you happy.

But it has Bill Paxton in it. He is considered by many to be the best actor not to have won an academy award.
Just his role in Aliens deserves a lifetime achievement-thanks-for-coming-out award! "Game over Man! Game Over!"

They've got Mike Commodore don't they?
As to The Thunderbirds, they're on pretty much every night on satellite, the same show I loved as a kid (yes, they had television then, just not colour). I haven't seen the movie yet.
