Default Can the Pope take a joke?

Its a good day in the life of Cheese when a story like this comes up: Italy is debating whether or not its okay to mock the Pope.

If you can't take the satire, stay out of public life.

On that note, the Iranian cartoon contest winner was announced and I see it got very little play (none) in the western media.

Obviously I'm not "for" cartoons depicting Jews in a negative light, but this kind of censorship bla bla bla.

It was reprinted on a couple of comicbook sites - this is the Comic Reporter: http://www.comicsreporter.com/index....nthly/2006/11/
(scroll down, you'll find it)

I though it was somewhat thought provoking. The guy uses a fence to show a gateway. Hard to tell which side of the fence the 'camp' is on - is it supposed to be Palestinian's entering Israel are going into a 'camp' or that Israel is creating a 'camp' on the PA side? Note that Iran's president denies the Shoa happened, yet the cartoon uses Shoa imagery.

Also, I never heard about the outcome of the Israeli "nobody does anti-semitism like us" cartoon contest. It was being run by an artist group based in Tel-Aviv.

Here is an interesting compilation of blasphemy laws in Europe (I don't know how accurate and up to date the site is):
