"girls" need "clothes and food and tender happiness and frills, a pan, a comb, perhaps a cat.....
Scientologys version of wedded bliss aka Tommy Cruises upcoming wedding to Katie.
The couple are expected to choose from five versions of the wedding ceremony, ranging from the Traditional to the Double Ring. Each includes traditional vows and lasts between 20 minutes to one hour.
In the old-fashioned language that marks the Traditional version, the groom is reminded that "girls" need "clothes and food and tender happiness and frills, a pan, a comb, perhaps a cat" -- and is asked to provide them all.
The bride, in turn, is told that "young men are free and may forget" their promises.
Im sure Tom forgot his at least twice.

Katie's a fool to marry Cruise. He'll drop her like a hot potato when he meets another hottie in one of his future films. This will be his 4th wedding! I guess there is truth after all to the saying that love is blind.

Love? Are you serious?
This marriage is so obviously a publicity stunt for both of them.

I would normally agree, except that Katie Holmes' career is... gone. She hasn't done anything since Batman Begins and she has been booted from that series of movies as they wanted a stronger female lead going forward.

Maybe I am spoiled, but I don't consider a pan or a comb to be frills. And honestly, what an odd choice of goods to be mentioned. Do they hold some special significance within Scientology or something? It's all so odd.
Man, what the heck happened to Tom?

I think it's another indication that the whole thing was cooked up by Hubbard as an elaborate joke/moneymaking scheme.

Does anybody really care? I mean I've actually heard/read folks that are saying they ain't going to Tom Cruise movies now cause he is so weird or Mel Gibson's ones either cause of his drunken antics.
I know it isn't going to change my viewing habits one iota. I have liked a whole ton of both their movies and other movies by guys/gals with all kinds of weird stuff happening in their lives -- Who cares -- I still like the movies they make.

Yes, I am serious. And no I don't see this as a publicity stunt. It's the media who are making a big thing out of this - same applies to the fans. It's a fact of life for a celebrity. Your privacy and personal life are always under the microscope by the media and fans. Cruise and Katie know this and probably would rather this not be a media circus.

I would argue that their images almost depend on it being a media circus. Plus, Cruise brought it all on himself when he jumped on the couch on Oprah.
