Hatcher to rest sore elbow
Carolina Hurricanes defensive stalwart defenceman kicks back and relaxes at his Raleigh home watching his mates hand the Nashville Predators an overtime loss on Monday. Derian Hatcher who has been resting up at home during the Hurricanes recent 3 game winning streak with what the Hurricanes have released as an upper-body injury. Derian is quick to smile as he replaces a new ice bag on his elbow “My elbow, uh I mean body has been taking a pounding this season, it was Hanna’s idea I take a couple week off and rest it, I need it to be healthy for our games against Forsberg, Kovachuck and Spezza.”
Darien who up till his injury was leading the CPHL in penalty minutes 56 is enjoying his stay in Raleigh. The Hurricanes now hold the 8th spot in the Gretzky Conference and are starting to show signs of the team that their GM had puzzled together for the offseason. “It’s taken a couple games for corp to get used to each other, with myself, Gill and Rathje coming aboard Coach Sutter has been moving us about with Komi, and Hill… we were just getting settled when my elbow, I mean upper body started to flare up.” The Hurricanes struggled out of the gates as scoring woes continued from last season and the high priced defensive core was caught head hunting more then paying D. With e addition of Chuck Kobasew who has added some timely scoring and the call up of Craig Anderson to give so much need relief for David Aebischer the Hurricanes slowly peg away at the league standing.
Derian Hatcher is scheduled to return to the Hurricanes lineup November 28th vs the Dallas Stars but don’t rule out that Darien will be ready to take off Todd Bertuzzi head as the ‘Canes face off against the Bruins on the 23rd.
