Default Yankees deal Sheffield to Tigers

http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/news_story/?ID=183668&hubname=

Am I the only one thinking that this is a bad deal for the Tigers? But then again, I like Sanchez....

Cheers.

New York gets right-handers Humberto Sanchez, Kevin Whelan and Anthony Claggett.
Sanchez, 23, was a combined 10-6 with a 2.53 ERA and 129 strikeouts in 123 innings with triple-A Toledo and double-A Erie this year. Whelan, 22, was 4-1 with a 2.67 ERA and 27 saves for class-A Lakeland. Claggett, 22, was 7-2 with an 0.91 ERA and 14 saves for class-A West Michigan.

Sheffield is pretty moody. Hopefully Detroti did their homework on him and found out if he'd actually want to play for them. Mind you money has always made Gary shut up. Although, Sheffield would certainly add a nice power bat to that lineup. He also probably fields better than any of Detroits pitchers not named Kenny Rogers.

High price tag AND give up your best starting pitching prospect?

Yikes.

I'm on my way to NY to drive that pr**ck to the airport. Awesome deal by Cashman to get 3 pitching prospects for a broken down malcontent

Red Sox have likely won the Matsuzaka bid. If you need another example of why the MLB CBA simply does not work, here you have it. 38-45 million for the RIGHTS to sign him. Not sign him, but the RIGHTS.

Likely between 10-15 million in addition per year to actually get him under contract for 5 years.

Sick, absolutely sick. Good luck seeing the Devil Rays match something like that Fantasy-Reality.

Did the Tigers forget why they made it to the world series? pitching, pitching and more pitching, and you give up a stud prospect for a guy who is a notorius malcontent, fragile, and is limited defensively. Dombrowski drank some stupid juice that Cashman was pouring.
