It feels like I am in a dream. I am walking down the street naked
Errrr…. Wrong dream…
It is eerie how the worst team in the CPHL last season is now near the top of the League after one month. Will we still be there in 30 days? Likely not but Tampa fans and management are excited about their rise. The team now knows it can win on any given night. The locker room is full of character and confidence.
The team has already dealt with adversity. Top Center Alexei Zhamnov retired at the end of training camp and Coach Hitchcock called upon players to step up. GM Droopy filled the gap with the acquisition of Jeff Halpern.
The team has also seen 2 of their top players move on. Milan Hejduk and Vesa Toskala were part of the teams long range plans but the Lightning were presented with an opportunity to bring in quality players now as well as add highly rated prospects and future picks. Newcomer Teemu Selanne has 4 goals in his 2 games since his arrival and goaltender Antero Niittymaki has yet to lose as a Bolt.
