Which hotel in Calgary NHL teams stay at?
Hello guys and girls. Does anyone know which Calgary hotel NHL teams stay at? Do they all stay at different hotels? Also, how do teams travel from Edmonton to Calgary? Plane or bus?
Thanks for your help!

Typically, most teams stay at the Sheraton Eau Claire, and a few others will stay at the Westin. Although I remember the Leafs staying at the Palliser more often than not.

I think the Oilers stayed at the Westin last year, but I saw Chris Pronger once or twice at the Cecil

The Blackhawks tend to stay at the Palliser as well.

Team hotels are common place to get autographs from players as they hop on the bus to the arena.

The Westin is on one of my potential pathways home. The Wild frequently stay there.
I can imagine that the Delta Bow Valley, Sheraton Eau Claire, Hyatt and Palliser are all hotels that see NHL teams from time to time.

No way to the Delta Bow Valley...its a hole. I worked there for 2 yrs, and the owners (not Delta Hotels) wouldn't sink any money into it to keep the rooms even close to up to date. That building is purely a real estate invetsment for its Japanese ownership group. Not sure about the Hyatt either, I've never heard or seen a team stay there....but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened.

Teams would fly from Edmonton to Calgary because they each have charter planes. If the game in Calgary is a one-off, the Oilers fly in the morning of the game. Plane departs at 9:00 a.m.

When the Oilers were in Calgary for pre-season one of the players asked where the team was staying and the Team Services Coordinator joked that we were staying at the Delta Bow Valley.

They must get a discount there. If Bill Wirtz had his way they'd be bunking in the hostel and he'd go on the road and cook all their meals to save a couple more bucks.

Maybe you meant you saw him in the drop-in-centre or prowling Victoria Park

Just curious - I'm treating myself to a trip to Calgary in February, and was wondering if the Palliser is worth it. I'm kind of a sucker for grand old hotels, but have felt a little let down from time to time. Just looking for a local opinion. Thanks in advance.

It's like any other Fairmont Hotel. Grand and "tawny" but I'd take the Sheraton or the Hyatt in a heartbeat over the Palliser or any other Fairmont for that matter. The Fairmonts I've been in are just well....old looking inside the rooms. Same thing in Vancouver, I get the company to park me at the Metropolitan vs the Hotel Vancouver for the same reason.

Thanks for the info. I thought it looked like they were trying a little too hard from what I could see online. I'll probably opt for the Marriott, though, since it seems like the closest to the 'dome. Not relishing any long walks at night in February. Brrrr.

Let's not overgeneralize here. We were treated to one of the high end suites in the Banff Springs once that was the most spectactular hotel room I've ever seen anywhere in the world. Nothing at any Sheraton could come close to rivalling this room in any way.

You don't have to walk anywhere. You can just take train to the Dome. It's 1 block from the Marriot. Most people train to the Dome anyway. It stops right at it.
If you walked from the Marriot to the Dome, that truely would be VERY far. The Sheraton is a little further from the closest C-Train station but it should be okay. You could save a lot more money by getting a hotel out in the NW (Banff Trail Area) as they are all right next to a C-Train station...or anywhere South or NE along the C-Train route. Most hotels have a shuttle service to the nearest train station.
You don't want to miss the opportunity of being sardined a traincar full of Flames fans so much that you can't breathe and want to die.

Then why were they renovating the place earlier this year?
