Default Work Out Supplements

Can anyone recommend certain work out supplements?

There is so much selection, I don't know where to start.
So I decided to start in the same place as always.. Calgary Puck

I want something that will help me build muscle but not get too bulky.
More ripped, less huge.

please help me

Are you tlking about cutters? As in a supplement in pill form?

If you're looking for less bulk, I'd just go with a modified diet. Most of the pill form cutters I've ever seen are filled with white willow bark and large amounts of caffeine, which will give you the shakes and A.D.D. Another option is clenbuterol, but it's illegal (I think?) and makes you jittery and dehydrated.

how about roids?

you could try protein shakes/bars after workouts. that works really good for me.

brand names that come to mind are Whey (shake) and Bio-Protein (shake/bar)

Not want I want. I don't want any fat cutting gimmicks, just meant that I want to avoid the really bulky supplements like creatine. I find they gave people a big look, but not much definition. Just a lot of roundness.

What I want is some protein, but even with that, there seems to be so much choice and I can't tell the difference.
And other then that, just seeing if people reccomend anything from personal experience.

The thing I hate about supplements is there is very little imformation out there. You can go to GNC or any other health food or supplement store and the person behind the counter rarly knows anything. The two places I buy from here in Red Deer have decent staff. I see the one guy at my gym all the time and he is a personal trainer so I assume he knows what he is talking about. I have been taking a product called Super Pump 250. I don't have a clue whats in it. All I know is that I take it 45 minutes before i hit the gym and it makes me want to through the weights around. The amount of weight I use for any of my exercises has increased big time and I am getting huge. Another product out there that is similar is called Xpand, but you need to take it before and after you work out and you can't eat for 45 minutes after you take it. If you are trying to lean out you might not need to take anything. Just eat right and use a workout routine that goes more for toning (less weight, more reps). I used to take fat burners but now that they are all ephidra free I don't think they work.

I'll second the Whey protien recommendation. I find taking protein after a workout is best, as it helps your torn muscles regenerate quicker. I would look for something in an "isolate" protein, which is generally recommended for people who work out, because it is not filling. many types of protein powder are best used as a meal replacement, whereas the "Isolates" are great for working out because you can still have a hearty meal a little later in the day without feeling too full.

From what I understand, there are only a few protein manufacturers in the world, and different companies buy it in bulk, add in flavours, etc, and re-sell it. I have no idea if it's true or not (just what I heard), but the reason there are cheap types of proten is because of what they cut it with. It also accounts for the "tin can" taste of some of the shakes.

I use the PVL line; not only is it supposedly higher quality, but the flavours are miles ahead of the generic chocolate and vanilla on the market. My fav is the peanut butter.....suuuuuper tasty. You can get it at any GNC in the city.

www.pvldirect.com is their web address.

That is so true. It is very hard to find a product that you can trust. Most people waste alot of money on these suplements. I know I sure have over the years. I have finally found something that works for me. But for all I know I am taking years off my life or destroying my kidneys or liver. Whos to know?

Glutamine and Creatine I found helped me. I mean what are your goals?

If it is to lose weight/build some muscle, I found Glutamine really improved my muscle stamina and I could lift more/had more energy for either lifting weights or Cardio.

Everything in moderation, just because you use creatine, doesn't mean you have to get really bulky.

Glutamine is another supplement I would recommend. It definately lessens the burn you feel after workouts, and if you're in the gym 4-6 days a week it helps speed up muscle recovery.

I'm going to have a look at this superpump stuff. I've never heard of it, but some of the statements on the net make it out to be appealing.

I was taking Xpand, I went to get more and the store was out and they pushed me towards super pump. I like it, but one side affect could be, diareha and cramping. But it will definately help your work outs.

Just remember your body can only process so much protein in a day. If you are drinking 3-6 protein shakes in a day, it isn't helping you at all.

The best time would be to drink a protein shake within 30 minutes of your workout, and possibly one more sometime in the day. Any more than that, and it is probably going to be stored as fat. That is of course assuming you are eating the right stuff during the day.

Multi vitamins. Seriously, if your eating right and working out properly you shoudn't need anything else. But I am not an expert.
