Default Some iPod's care carrying a windows virus.

How does this happen? Does apple use manufacturers who use windows OS to install firmware on iPods? Just doesn't make sense...

Doing it on purpose to promote apple. Apple uses shady techniques. One version of quicktime doesn't allow you to transfer songs onto a Creative MP3 player. It did NOTHING to any other applications. I didn't have this problem, but I found out and read about it when I bought my Zen Vision M. A note was enclosed in the packaging saying that if I have certain versions of quicktime, I have to update to the newest version, because for some absolutely unsuspicious reason it interferes with creative's drivers....hmmm....

I have a Zen Vision:m as well, and love it, but do NOT upgrade to the latest firmware. Creative has disabled the ability to record from FM in the latest firmware version. (speculation is they were worried about potential copyright lawsuits, similar to RIAA v XM Radio)

i began worrying aboot this kind of stuff when cellphones started having complex OS's and downloadable files... it was only a matter of time!

i had an RF instructor in college that predicted all of this, he said it would lead to a rebirth of hardware...

Creative has shipped their software out to customers before with viruses at least once. Probably happens more then one would think.

No, if you had certain versions of Quicktime simply installed on your computer they would interfere with transfering mp3's to your Creative player simply to cause grief. The idea is that the user will eventually become disenchanted with their music player and get an iPod out of frustration.

Maybe it was a ploy to get people to get rid of Quicktime?

Seems MP3 players that were given away by McDonald's Japan were infected with a password stealing trojan. I wonder if these are also iPod's or if it's a wider spread problem.
