Default Avoid Deerfoot.....

To all who have to commute this morning in the south, try to avoid deerfoot north and south between Peigan and Glenmore. We had a huge multi vehicle pile up (50+ vehicles) at approximately 2300 hrs resulting in closures for both directions. I have no idea how long they'll be closed, but we've been told from CPS it is indefinite.

For the "official" release, please read Calgary Citybeat. And as always, as winter comes closer, drive safe!

That sounds pretty smooth Jar-e, like inside info.
Are you working for Serpico? We got your back.

*Laugh* I guess you could call it inside info. I work up at dispatch for Calgary Fire and EMS so just thought I'd pass the heads up on.

And....I don't get the Serpico reference....

At 2306 Calgary Fire Department responded to the Calf Robe
bridge on the Deerfoot Trail. Crews arrived to find
approximately 60 to 80 vehicles involved in a chain reaction
collision.

Holy crap, pretty amazing no one was seriously hurt. Thanks for the heads up jar_e.

Serpico hid info ,nobody kept his back, (Al Pacino) so he couldn't release that same info. Catch 22
Not trying to relate it to your valuable job.
Maybe saying that CP could disseminate info quickly.
If needed.

Ah the information is pretty much public knowledge when it gets released on Citybeat...I do have other info, but I can't release it on a public forum such as this.

And, to update....as of 0400 hrs deerfoot is now back open between Peigan and Glenmore, north and south. But, I'd still try to avoid it, it may be restricted.
