Default Crappy Tire money

Since people are talking about Aeroplan miles...I had a thought.

What is the most amount of Canadian Tire Money you have saved up. I saved up $220 back in 2001. I was so happy because in college I had this really ****ty tv in college (the one with a wood cabinet all around it) I was able to buy a brand new tv and I only had tp hork out $50 of my own money. Won't have been able to do it if it wasn't for crappy tire money.

I probably have 700 sitting around the house, but I for the most part hate Canadian Tire products, and I don't play hockey anymore so I don't need to buy gear.

Wonder what its worth on ebay

... i heard a funny story that recently a few miles out of port in the phillipines a canadian ship was stopped by the captain, and all the crew assembled for a little chat, having to do with $10,000 of canadian tire money spent on women of negotiable affection and booze during shore leave...

i wonder if it's true.

I've got over $120 saved up right now.

Back in the day when my wife (girlfriend at the time) was going to school at UofA, I drove up to Edmonton everyother weekend and I filled up at Canadian Tire gas bar all the time. I also worked at Canadian Tire at the time so I would buy stuff from Canadian Tire to get my (crappy) staff discount. I think I had close to $300.

I've heard that story also, but quite a long time ago. It was about the Navy and in Panama (back when I was still serving Her Majesty).

well, i'd say that either makes it a myth, or a tradition!

I get it on my Mastercard and have about $150 on it. (I don't know how people save those dimes and nickels.) I worked at a restaurant that takes it at par and we dreaded when people brought 16 bucks of nickels to pay for their dinner.

What I don't get is the people that come in and buy a $75 item and use the .55 cents of Canadian Tire money they saved up.

I wonder how prevalent fraud is on CT money. Do they have means to detect it?

Pretty much. It was mostly ones and 2s. He had a fleet of vans or something and he personally filled them with fuel and used the multiplier coupons.

They actually have a banknote company make them...and as for fake Canadian Tire $, with the currency topping out at (I think) $5, it's probably not worth a forger's time.

I bought a tool box for my pickup a few years back and paid for it all with CT money. Was around $350. Now I fill up at the Superstore gas bars and get the PC points on my mastercard.

I believe it's on the same paper as Cdn currency. It is considered legal tender as it has no expiry.

About six years ago, when I was 18 and a starving University student, my dad and brother were working on the oilfields (well, they still are, but...)

Snuck into my brother's jeep to grab and beer, and the guy had wads of $2 CT bills in there...at least $200 worth. Asked them, and my dad said they were bonuses from where they worked.

Crazy. They also got tons of bonus Air Miles and gas coupons from Shell...as well as getting paid up the whazoo.

One season, before the union ****ed it all up, I was a contractor for Canada Post. Did alot of driving, and the canadian tire gas bar was the best place to fill up (remember that price war in shawnessy between walmart, canadian tire and coop?)...

I saved about 300 dolla over one winter and promptly blew my canadian tire savings on some new camping gear.
