Nice. I like it. Something different than the majority of our highrises here.

But, but, but it's not just a cookie-cutter style brick and glass!
Interesting design. Will be interesting to see how that fits in when built.

Coooool.
For those of us discombobulated types, in the second picture (with the Telus building) what is that building on the left hand side of the street we are looking across?

Now good luck finding someone to build the thing without royally screwing it up. And good luck with the engineer and architecht getttng 50% of the design correct. Guaranteed this thing is way over budget, has tonnes of cost overruns, and one of the engineer or architecht is driven into bankruptcy, re-signs from the project and blames the other.

Hmmmm....I hope they did some wind tests with a model as I'm curious what that bow will do with the NW and W winds we get...I have visions of swirling snow...perhaps they'll put up fossil sculptures like the TCPL building.

That looks sweet, hopefully a major won't buy up EnCana before the building is done.

Not sure, but it's definitely on 5th ave going west. I think it is the building that is across the street from The Cecil, which I have no idea what it is... the YWCA maybe?
I agree. Super cool building. Way too cool for Calgary. I am going to have an awesome view of this place from my condo when it is done, too. Hopefully it inspires some architectual ****ing matches that will leave our skyline looking good!
What is up with that one of it looking North-eastish from Centre Street (last pic psoted)? The sun would never be in that position, and it's kind of a stretch to say the sunset would be that bright from there... do they use actual photos and then render in the picture or is the background made up too?

Please tell me they're not planning on utilizing the York Hotel as part of the structure. I hope they're building a new structure along 7th Avenue in an effort to have a consistent look that jives with the Legion.

I want to see what the plaza looks like. I hear that they had big plans for that.

Looks great; not only the building, but also what you can see of the York and the rest of the south block; looks like the street level will be much improved. And I hope the sky gardens are open to the public; that would be a great place to go and hang out and work remotely.
Rouge, if you're asking about that building that's sort of behind the trees, I believe that's the backside of the YWCA; if they had taken the picture from a block further east, it would have had the Cecil in it, which knocks any architectural rendering down a notch.

6 stories more and 32 meters taller than petro canada building. I"m pretty sure there was supposed to be a little brother of the big building. I'm wondering if it will sort of look like the city hall towers in Toronto. But the second tower is estimated to be around 40 stories.
I've also heard rumours that Imperial Oil is waiting on Encana's design and they will build a new building to compete or even be taller than Encana's. This theory holds no water so don't quote me on it.
Calgary's skyline is going to looks awesome after all these high rise office buildings and condos get completed.

Looks great!
I like the visible structural bracing, can't wait to see more information.
The architecture looks miles ahead of the rest of the skyline in the first picture.
