What's happening in the CPHL??
Hello CPHL:
The season is underway and so are the rumors so let us get to it!
- The hottest name on the rumor wire right now is Anson Carter. The Panther winger seems to be fitting right in with Panthers 2nd line; however there are at least 5 teams pursuing him right now, Dallas (e4) and Atlanta (e3) seem to be the most interested
- Look for the Jest to make a few moves to stay in the mix in the Howe. GM Walsh is not one to go after youth and likes to keep a solid veteran mix around.
- The rebuilding rumblings coming out of Philly are a little premature. Expect GM Noops to show more patience then he originally planned and give his team a chance to perform.
- The Rangers plan on being patient and will not rush into any trades. The team is perennial slow starters and GM Flambers knows this. However that being said, not all is quiet in the big apple. The most heard name on the trading block is Dwayne Roloson. Atlanta (e2), Vancouver (e3), and Philly (e1) are possible trade partners.
- Brendan Witt and Jim Dowd may not be Senators for long. GM Red is looking for youth and if his team drops out of the mix early a few veterans could be gone. Dallas (e1), Boston (e1), Carolina (e2) all show early interest.
- Look for the Oilers to try and shake up the forward lines. Shane Doan (e3), Sergei Samsonov (e1), Steve Weiss (e3) and Tomas Plekanec (e2) could all be moved within the next little while.
- There are apparently 4 teams that are in heavy pursuit of Penguins star Jason Spezza. Chicago (e4), Washington (e3), Philly (e2) and Edmonton (e3) are all interested in the young center. However my sources tell me it is extremely unlikely we will see Spezza change teams anytime soon.
- Milan Michalek could be on the move soon, The Dallas Morning News reported earlier this week that GM Shah is looking to package up the youngster with another forward to add a veteran sniper to the team. Anson Carter (e4), Steve Sullivan (e3), Todd Bertuzzi (e2), and Cory Stillman (e1) are names that have come up.
- News out of Detroit is that GM May is giving his goalie tandem a 5-10 game trial period, after that he will asses what is best for the team and will likely pursue a starter if he does not get some quality starts from his current tenders.
- Look for the Bruins to look to mix up their chemistry if they don’t get on track early. Rumors have GM KG seeking a possible top pairing dman and a top six winger.
Be back soon,
Eklunde
