what do you want to do?? Play games or listen to music? Decide that first and the answer becomes clear.

Makes sense, but I like both equally.

I'd go with the Wii.. The Zune doesn't look that great IMO, some interesting features but there are better players.

Back away from the Zune. If MS puts some muscle behind it and gets very aggressive on the pricing, then it may have a chance. Otherwise, I'm not sure it will hang on. BTW, it is made by Toshiba. If it is music that you want, there are a ton of MP3 players. You need to make a list of things you want and then use that to identify what you want.
Go for the Wii - that looks really inovative. If it works as well as the marketing seems to imply, it may bring Nintendo a lot of new users.

The zune is a first step into the portable media player market. Right now it doesn't look that much better than an ipod (I'd still go with the ipod), but if MS puts some muscle behind it then it could be a worthy competitor (right now its about equal feature wise [although less battery life, bigger, etc]). Anyways, I wouldn't buy one now because you can expect major changes to it. The zune 2.0 will porbably be a lot better than the current iteration of the zune.
The Wii on the otherhand is a final product, and it looks cool as hell. Go for the Wii - I know I would!

My kids (LOL me) are looking forward to the Wii. The controller thing is just absolutely fascinating. If it works as advertized playing sports or shooters on this system will be the most fun of any system by leaps and bounds.
Virtual golf, tennis etc. in your own family room and with the lowest price of any new console. It's a no brainer!!!

Well, first of all, its sort of a weird comparison, as one is primarily just a video game console and the other is completely different. Though I would have to also go with the Wii, this thing looks like its a refreshing change to the recent console battles of More power = better. Of course I'll still get a PS3 cause I'm an RPG junkie, but the Wii looks to be doing some pretty awesome things, and you cant argue with its (probable) low price.

The Wii definatly looks differant. But is it too differant? Part of the fun of playing video games is sitting back and relaxing. If I have to be standing up, swinging my arms around while I play, I might as well go outside and play real sports. But I also need to find out more about the console. I do like the fact that I can play my game cube games on it.

The over the top promo reals aside, you will still be able to sit comfortably when you play. Flicks of the wrist will translate just as well as full out batting, golfng, and pitching motions.

As for MP3 players, Creative players > iPod AND Zune if you go that route. I'd still get the Wii...but only cuz I already have a Zen Vision M, and it rules.

Get a Nintendo DS and a flash cart plus some homebrew apps.
It's my portable media player for movies, ebooks, music, and even comic books.
